El Scram pours it on and gets back into the win column
The Scramblers faced off against the Barracudas in U-6 city league action Saturday. All the Scramblers were healthy and available for duty, against a cuda team that appeared with 4 players. With the referee’s whistle, the eggbeaters quickly pressed the attack and Skyler soon found himself in front of the goal for the first Scramblers strike of the game. The cudas ran hard and tried to return the favor, but Henry soon took off on one of his patented breakaways for the first of his two goals on the day, making it 2 – 0.   With a full complement of players, the scramblers exploited the short cuda bench by rotating fresh eggers into the match, keeping the pressure on. Having only one sub to turn to eventually cost the barracudas, as they tired of the quick pace. No faulting the barracudas though, as they turned in a solid effort with the final score 12 – 1 scramblers.
At 6 – 1, the Scramblers finish the season against the Diamondbacks on Saturday, and will surely celebrate a fun and happy inaugural season. Hope to post some team pics next week. Check out more Scramblers v Cuda pics in the gallery.

Scram comes from behind but gets spooked and suffers first loss of the season
Saturday the undefeated Eggos faced off against the U-6 Roadrunners at the Hadley fields. The scram quickly fell behind 2 – 0 and had trouble dealing with the speedy Roadrunners. Not used to facing a deficit, the Scramlets soon adjusted and right before half-time Henry’s low strike into the side netting tied it up at 3-3. Carlo added another to make it 4-3 at half-time.
The roadrunners regrouped to pile on three goals in the third quarter to take a big lead. Carlo had another hard shot clank off the crossbar and bounce onto the goal line, just missing his third goal. The roadrunners had just too much offense this day and won it 10 – 6. Everybody had a great game with H perhaps guzzling a little too much Gatorade at the half. Check out more pics and hope all the Scramblers gets some tricks and a lot of treats tonight. A few more game day pics in the Gallery.

H nets 4 goals as the Scram keeps their irons in the fire with a 12 – 8 victory
The U-6 Scramblers kept their undefeated season going strong against the Red Hots this morning. Despite some early whining about a cactus pricker in his sock, Henry had a strong game today, scoring the first goal. The egg-beaters set an early fast pace with plenty of counterattacks to make the score 2 – 0. The Red Hot eventually fought back to even the score at 7 – 7. With the teams very close at half-time, the strategy of loading the players up with high fructose corn syrup seemed to have worked as H came alive for three more goals to make the final score 12 – 8 for the Eggers.
Had a great time and a lot of fun. We celebrated the victory by buying a giant pumpkin at the farmer’s market and a loaf of sourdough bread. And for all you premium hank.com members, please login to the gallery for more Scramblers FC action shots.
I made like 10 mental notes this week to remember, and i still forgot (“…so that’s the ways it’s gonna be huh? Too late Roy?” ) about The Fountain Theatre’s showing of “Used Cars” as the Saturday Matinee today. I can’t believe i’ve missed my chance to see the Fuchs brothers on the big screen.
Scramblers stay undefeated as they hold off Maxwell Smart’s arch-nemesis.
Actually so many of the Kaos team was sick with the cold or flu, that only one Kaos player showed up for the game. So the Scram coach split half the team up to play with the lone Kaos kid and the game was on. It was a pretty spirited scrimmage between both sides, and Henry netted one goal and helped out on a couple of others.
All in all a very good game and here’s hoping all the Kaos crew gets better for next week. The Scram try and keep their hardboiled momentum going next week when they take on the U-6 Red Hots. Check out more pics in the Gameday Gallery.
I love Pie Town. If you didn’t get enough of the place  from our last p-town trip, here’s a nice piece called 36 hours in Pie Town.
Took H on his first backpack to the Gila Wilderness. There’s a trail that follows the Middle fork of the Gila River and we took it as far as a place called Little Bear canyon, about 6 1/2 miles in. Cindy provided much needed comic relief by losing the soles of both of her old Vasque sundowners. I guess all the stream crossings were just too much. Henry hung in there, had a great time making up hiking songs and having fun. On both Saturday and Sunday we ran into a guy on horseback running his coon hounds. The second time we saw them, all the dogs surrounded Henry, believing they had tree’d something. The lead dog started balling and howling and generally raising a racket until the other dogs arrived to gave henry a tongue bath. We also saw some pack burros on the trail and quail i think. Some pretty cool lizards, too, perhaps of the uta stansburiana variety.
Had a big dinner in Silver City and H slept pretty good Sunday night. Check out the gallery for some more picks of Hank vs. Wild. And if you can spare it, please contribute cash, check or some old shoestrings for Cindy’s next pair of boots.
