There&#8217;s a trail that follows the Middle fork of the Gila River and we took it as far as a place called Little Bear canyon, about 6 1\/2 miles in.\u00c2\u00a0 Cindy provided much needed comic relief by losing the soles of both of her old <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vasque.com\/vasque-shoe\/7142-vasque\/7142-vasque-mens-sundowner-gtx-burgandy\">Vasque sundowners<\/a>. I guess all the stream crossings were just too much. Henry hung in there, had a great time making up hiking songs and having fun. On both Saturday and Sunday we ran into a guy on horseback running his coon hounds. The second time we saw them, all the dogs surrounded Henry, believing they had tree&#8217;d something. The lead dog started balling and howling and generally raising a racket until the other dogs arrived to  gave henry a tongue bath. We also saw some pack burros on the trail and quail i think.\u00c2\u00a0 Some pretty cool lizards, too, perhaps of the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Common_side-blotched_lizard\">uta stansburiana<\/a> variety.<\/p>\n<p>Had a big dinner in Silver City and H slept pretty good Sunday night. <a href=\"https:\/\/henrydryden.net\/gallery\/main.php?g2_itemId=3421\">Check out the gallery for some more picks of Hank vs. Wild<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 And if you can spare it, please contribute cash, check or some old shoestrings for Cindy&#8217;s next pair of boots.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Took H on his first backpack to the Gila Wilderness.
